Two arrested after body found in burnt-out stolen car

Gardaí in Galway have confirmed that a burnt-out car in which a body was found yesterday had been stolen.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The men, who are understood to be local and in their 20s, presented themselves at Mill Street Station yesterday evening, and both are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The body of man was discovered in a Lexus car on Rocklands Avenue, Ballybane, yesterday morning.

A Garda spokesman said they are following "positive line" in relation to establishing the identity of the body, but as yet no formal ID has been made.

A postmortem was due to be carried out this afternoon.
