Two brothers from the Shankill area of Belfast appeared in court yesterday on blackmail charge

Two brothers from the Shankill area of Belfast appeared in court yesterday on blackmail charge. Mr Anthony Duff (28), of McCandless, Street, and Mr Alan Duff (31), of Tennent Street, were accused of demanding money with menaces from a building contractor's for the benefit of the UDA.

Mr Duff was also charged with membership of the banned organisation.

A detective told Belfast Magistrates' Court that when charged the men replied that they were not guilty. They were remanded in custody until July 3rd.
