Ankara - Turkey's chief prosecutor launched a fresh assault on political Islam yesterday, recommending that 12 leading politicians should be put on trial for fraud.
The politicians include Mr Recai Kutan, the leader of the largest party in parliament, and Mr Necmettin Erbakan, the former prime minister who formed Turkey's first Islamist-led government before being forced out of office last year under military pressure.
