The Teachers' Union of Ireland has expressed disappointment at the decision of the Minister for Education, Mr Martin, to scrap plans for regional education boards. "The TUI supported the concept of regional boards because we saw them as having an important role in co-ordinating activities between schools in an area and in limiting competition between schools," TUI general secretary Mr Jim Dorney said.
