Senior SDLP figures have paid tribute to a long-serving councillor who died early on January 1st

Senior SDLP figures have paid tribute to a long-serving councillor who died early on January 1st. Down district councillor Peter Craig died after a long battle with cancer.

Party leader Alasdair McDonnell said Mr Craig “epitomised everything that represented the SDLP success story”. He was “at the centre of everything that the party did in South Down”.

SDLP South Down MP Margaret Ritchie said the party and the people of Down had lost “a great man who worked tirelessly for the people he represented”.
