A jury has been sworn in at the trial of a man charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of a Dublin mother and her son, who were on their way home from a picnic.

Pamela Boylan (32) and her only child Thomas (9), Fettercairn, Tallaght, were killed in the head-on collision at Ballymore Eustace, Co Kildare, on April 10th, 2006. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Keith Cunningham (32), an architectural technician from Fairfield Park, Kilcolum, Co Waterford, who was driving the other vehicle, has pleaded not guilty.

The trial at Naas Circuit Court is expected to continue for three to four days before Judge John O’Shea.
