FLORENCE - The former Italian prime minister, Mr Giulio Andreotti, complained yesterday that his trial for allegedly ordering the killing of a journalist in 1979 had been halted.

The trial in Perugia was adjourned to June 6th when the presiding judge and an assistant stepped down for procedural reasons on Saturday. Lawyers said the trial, which began this month, may have to start afresh when the court meets again.
