London - British scientists announced a breakthrough yesterday in a potentially fatal condition in pregnant women which is the leading cause of premature births. Researchers at Reading University have isolated a protein that can be used to detect pre-eclampsia and may lead to finding a treatment for the condition, which affects about one in 10 first pregnancies.
