A dispute at Kent Station, Cork, following disciplinary action against a staff member, disrupted train services between Cork and Tralee and Dublin on Saturday. Iarnrod Eireann officials and members of the National Rail and Busworkers Un ion met and the issue was referred back to the agreed disciplinary procedure.

The union advised members to return to work, but many failed to turn in, leading to cancellations. Only the 17.30 service from Cork to Heuston operated during the day. The 18.30 service from Dublin to Tralee and the 19.05 service to Cork were amalgamated as a 19.10 service to Mallow with a bus service onward. Services returned to normal yesterday.
