A north American tourist is being treated for "probable" swine flu in the west, the Health Service Executive (HSE) has confirmed.

The man, who is in his 70s, is being kept in an isolation unit at Roscommon County Hospital. He had been taken to the hospital with chest pains last weekend. The HSE said tests had proved positive and were being sent to Britain for further analysis. If confirmed, it will be the 12th case of swine flu.
