Fruit and vegetable distributor Total Produce said today that profit more than doubled in 2007 after acquisitions boosted sales.

The Fyffes spin-off said net income increased to €19.1 million ($29 million) from €7.1 million in 2006. Sales climbed 31 per cent to €2.43 billion.

Total Produce bought UK distributor Redbridge Holdings last year and took over Irish health-foods company Wholefoods Wholesale.
