A six-year-old girl died in Co Tipperary after being accidentally struck by her five-year-old cousin with a golf club.

A six-year-old girl died in Co Tipperary after being accidentally struck by her five-year-old cousin with a golf club.

Paige Corcoran from Carrig Rua estate in Nenagh was taken to Mid Western General Hospital in Limerick after the incident on Sunday afternoon.

She was put on a life support machine but died yesterday.

The children had been playing on public land when Paige sustained a blow to the throat from the golf club.

The gardaí have passed a file onto the coronor.
