The man's body was discovered in a sports field in Townspark, Thurles at 7.30pm last night.

The body remains at the scene pending forensic examination by the State Pathologist and the Garda Technical Bureau today.

Yesterday gardaí in Kerry launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed to death in Killarney.

At 2am yesterday morning gardaí were called to a house on the Pinewood Estate, where they discovered the 30-year-old victim, who had a number of stab wounds.

The victim, named last night as James Brazier, was taken to Tralee General Hospital where he later died.
