Three people were rescued from a yacht off the coast of Cork this morning when their 22ft boat ran aground on a small island near the village of Ballycotton.

The Ballycotton RNLI crew received an emergeny call at about 2.30am from the stricken vessel and the lifeboat was launched.

The three crewmembers were taken off the yacht by the lifeboat.

The yacht remained on the rocks.

The RNLI crew gathered at Ballycotton pier again this morning, where they are attempting to re-float the yacht, which is still on the rocks.
