A couple from Dublin and a man from Derry were remanded in custody after they appeared at a special sitting of Magherafelt District Court yesterday following one of the largest drug hauls to date in Northern Ireland.

Eight kilogrammes of heroin and 210,000 ecstasy tablets were found in a lorry which was stopped by PSNI officers on the Foyle bridge in Derry last Saturday.

Seán Doherty (41), Cornshell Fields, is charged with possessing the drugs with intent to supply them.

Anthony Morgan (27), Eaton Green, Rathcoole, Dublin, and his partner Sarah Greene (24) both deny being concerned in the supply of heroin and ecstasy tablets.
