Three people died over the weekend following separate road accidents.

One man lost died in hospital from injuries sustained in a crash on the M50 on Thursday morning.

The car he was driving, a blue Audi, collided with a truck on the northbound section of the motorway at 9.50am

The driver was brought to Beaumont Hospital where he was treated for the last three days but died yesterday evening.

Gardaí at Santry have appealed for witnesses to come forward. An elderly woman also lost her fight for life after being knocked down more than a week ago.

The 68-year-old had been crossing Stafford Street, Nenagh, Co Tipperary on December 8 when she was struck by a car.

She was initially treated in Nenagh General Hospital and later transferred to Cork Regional Hospital where she died today. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses.

Elsewhere, a motorcyclist died at the scene when he knocked off his bike at Glenbrack, Gort, Co Galway at 3.40pm yesterday. He was named by gardaí today as Timmy Lenihan (50) of Mountcollins, Limerick.
