Three people have been charged following the seizure of explosives and ammunition in Belfast.

Three people have been charged following the seizure of explosives and ammunition in Belfast.

Seizure of both explosives and ammunition were made during searches on Friday evening in west Belfast.

A 34 -year-old man and a 29-year-old woman are due to appeal before Belfast Magistrates Court tomorrow charged with six counts of possessing explosives with intent to endanger life.

They also each face four charges of possession of weapons, namely ammunition, and three charges of possessing articles likely to be of use to terrorists.

A 35-year-old man has been charged with possession of explosives in suspicious circumstances.

The arrests were made when police were on high alert against a threat from dissident republicans to explode a bomb in Belfast during the Leeds Castle political talks.
