Attackers fired a rocket into a Pakistani military camp in a remote tribal area near the Afghan border today, killing three soldiers, officials said.

Four soldiers were wounded, three of them seriously, in the pre-dawn attack in the Kurram tribal area, officials said.

There have been several attacks on army posts in the lawless border region since last week when government forces began a campaign in the South Waziristan area, 170 kilometres to the south of today's attack, to root out foreign militants.

Military spokesmen were not immediately available for comment on the latest attack.
