Two men and a woman arrested near Tyrrellspass, Co Westmeath, appeared in court yesterday in connection with a seizure of cannabis resin with an estimated street value of €210,000.

Joanne Clifford (31), Willow Park, Carlow, Anthony Madden (29), Hunter's Green, Carlow, and Chris McDonagh (38), Station Road, Castletowngeoghegan, Co Westmeath, were charged under Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1977.

Det Garda Declan Geraghty of Tullamore Garda station told Dublin District Court at the Bridewell he arrested two men and two women yesterday afternoon as part of a local operation in conjunction with the Garda National Drugs Unit.

The four were arrested at a house near Tyrrellspass.

One of the women was released and a file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The other three were brought to Dublin District Court because there was no sitting of the district courts in Tullamore or Mullingar yesterday.

Judge Ann Ryan adjourned their case to a sitting of Mullingar District Court at 10.30am today.

Ms Clifford, Mr Madden and Mr McDonagh were all remanded in custody with consented bail of €10,000 with €5,000 to be lodged in cash.
