A LIBYAN national yesterday received a three-month jail term at the District Court in Waterford city and was fined €1,500 for failing to provide valid immigration documents to gardaí.

Abdul Salam Mansour al Jehani (32), who was charged on March 15th in Waterford city, pleaded guilty to the charge.

Meanwhile, Ali Charaf Damache, who was charged on Monday with using a phone to send a message of “menacing character” to a man in the US, was further remanded in custody at the District Court yesterday.

Mr Charaf Damache (44), an Irish citizen who is originally from Algeria, was remanded in custody to appear in court again on Thursday next.
