A motorcyclist in his 40s was killed when his bike collided with a car in Co Kilkenny yesterday afternoon. The incident happened 1.50pm at Ballyhale and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 63-year-old male pedestrian and a 73-year-old female motorist were also killed on the roads over the weekend.

The man was struck by a passing car at 3am yesterday morning in Springfield, Elphin, Co Roscommon. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them in Boyle Garda station on 071-9664620.

On Saturday night at 11.40pm the woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision at Rathgory, Ardee, Co Louth.
