Three Irish students were last week awarded a European "Super prize" in a competition organised by the European Space Agency, the European Southern Observatory and the European Association for Astronomy Education. Students were asked to produce a six page broadsheet newspaper on the theme Sea and Space. Stephen Kearney, Eamonn McKeogh and Cian Wilson of Blackrock College, Dublin, were declared Irish national winners in June and invited to Lisbon to compete against 15 other European countries. They won the top prize, a trip to ESA's Kourou launch centre in French Guiana and a visit to the La Silla Observatory in Chile's Atacama Desert.
