Three food businesses were ordered to close by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) last month over safety breaches.

The closure orders were imposed on the Red Sun Chinese restaurant, Tower, Blarney, Co Cork; The Bagel Bar in Georges Street Arcade, South Great Georges Street, Dublin 2; and Sheridan's deli at Main Street, Bawnboy, Cavan.

Closure orders are served when environmental health officers deem after an inspection that there is, or there is likely to be, a "grave and immediate danger" to public health at or in the premises.

Four other premises were served with prohibition orders: Doherty's Butchers in Clonmany, Co Donegal; Food Experience, Wine Street, Sligo; Richie Doyle & Sons Butchers, Redmond Square, Wexford; and Richie Doyle & Sons Butchers, South Main Street, Wexford.

Prohibition orders are issued if standards of food storage or handling of products are likely to involve a serious risk to public health. The sale of the product is prohibited, either temporarily or permanently.
