Three men have been arrested after a man was left in a critical condition following an attack in Co Derry.
The 29-year-old victim was found lying in Bannfield Street in Coleraine after the attack in the early hours of Sunday morning.
After treatment in the local Causeway Hospital he was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for specialist care.
Within hours of the attack the PSNI said they wanted to speak to three men reported to have been seen in the area and who were also thought to have been the same people who had visited the Causeway Hospital less than an hour after the attack to check on the victim's condition.
A fourth man was arrested but later released without charge.
