Threat to put venom in food

DUSSELDORF - German authorities say blackmailers have threatened to poison food in stores across Europe with lethal snake venom from 274 types of snake unless they are given 400 million marks (£169.8 million) in diamonds. Prosecutors in Essen, who are co-ordinating the investigation, said the black mailers had been making their threats since January.
