JAKARTA - Four people including a soldier were killed and six others injured as thousands rioted near the airport of Jayapura, the capital of Irian Jaya province, a military official said yesterday.

The riots broke out after the body of a Melanesian separatist leader, Thomas Wanggai, who died in an Indonesian jail last week, was flown in and thousands were prevented by security forces from paying their last respects.
