A third man was arrested today by police investigating the murder of a man outside a Derry nightclub.

The 19-year-old was arrested in Coleraine this morning. Police are also continuing to question two men aged 20 and 31.

Trevor Spiers (28) was attacked on the promenade of the coastal town of Portstewart, Co Derry, at 2am yesterday after leaving the Havana club where an earlier dispute is believed to have taken place.

The victim was taken to hospital where he died a short time later. Police now want to speak to bystanders who came to the injured man’s aid after the assault.

He had been in the club, above the Shenanigans bar in the seaside town, which is a popular night-spot close to the University of Ulster campus at Coleraine.
