London - Two thieves yesterday stole the gates from the Liverpool children's home celebrated in the Beatles song Strawberry Fields Forever.
The thieves cut the gates down and loaded them into a van, before speeding off, a Salvation Army spokesman, Mr Ray Collings, said. They carried out the theft in full view of children playing in the home's grounds. The children alerted staff, but too late.
