The Car Exchange company's Car Show won the Special Judges Award at the Irish Times/ESB Theatre Awards in 1998, has since played over 2,000 performances and is still vibrantly alive and touring. Now a successor, Car Show 2 (featuring Mark Doherty, right) has opened in Temple Bar, with four new playlets cast in the original mould. Four cars sit in the corners of Meeting House Square. In each, a 15-minute play with two actors takes place in the front, while an audience of three earwigs in the rear. These are serious-hilarious glimpses of real life, directed and acted by talented stage professionals. There will be three shows nightly next week, from Monday to Friday at 7 p.m., 8.30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets are free, but must be booked in advance through Temple Bar Properties, 18 Eustace St, Dublin 2.
