London - The General Synod of the Church of England has made temptation optional - at least in the Lord's Prayer. The synod has voted to substitute for the words "Lead us not into temptation" the words "Save us from the time of trial" in a modern, alternative version of the Lord's Prayer to be introduced in the new millennium.
