A teenager has been charged with attempted rape after a woman was attacked in her home on Friday night in south Belfast.

A teenager has been charged with attempted rape after a woman was attacked in her home on Friday night in south Belfast.

The 42-year-old victim suffered bruising and facial injuries in the attack, which happened at 11pm on Friday.

The attacker was detained when a neighbour  reportedly heard screaming, ran to the victim`s aid and held the attacker until police arrived.

A 17-year-old man is due before Laganside Magistrates tomorrow charged with attempted rape, burglary and assault.
