A teenager has been killed in a road crash in Co Donegal this afternoon.

A teenager has been killed in a road crash in Co Donegal this afternoon.

A garda spokesperson said the single vehicle crash occured on the N56 between Creeslough and Dunfanaghy at midday, when the car went out of control and hit a wall.

The dead man, who was in his late teens, was a front seat passenger in the car. The 19-year-old driver was seriously injured and has been taken to Letterkenny General Hospital.

The road at Derryart has been closed while a technical examination takes place.

The teenager's name has not yet been released. His death brings to 61 the total number of people who have died on the State's roads so far this year.
