A 14-year-old boy Sligo schoolboy has died after inhaling gas in a shed attached to the refrigeration unit at Dunnes Stores, at Cranmore, Co Sligo. It is believed that Wayne Gibbons from Carroll Drive, Cranmore, collapsed after turning on a valve on a gas container.

A number of other boys are believed to have been with the teenager at the time, but foul play is not suspected. Frantic efforts to revive the boy at Sligo General Hospital failed and he died shortly after ten o'clock on Monday night.
