A youth who died in Belfast today after a car crash involving a stolen car was thought to have been earlier involved in an armed robbery.

The young man was killed this morning when the car he was in left the road at a junction in the Castlereagh area.

The vehicle ended up in a small stream near the road, and the man's body was found nearby.

Police said they believed the occupants of the car had been involved in an armed robbery at a petrol station in the area.

At least three people who had taken part in the robbery escaped in the car.

Shortly afterwards, two youths were seen acting suspiciously at the rear of houses close to the crash scene.
