A teenager with cerebral palsy has secured €5

A teenager with cerebral palsy has secured €5.25 million in settlement of his High Court action arising from serious injuries suffered in the circumstances of his birth at St Munchin’s Regional Maternity Hospital in Limerick.

Kyle sued the HSE through his mother Theresa McMahon, Cudville, Nenagh, Co Tipperary, and liability was admitted.

Ms McMahon was admitted to hospital with raised blood pressure, counsel said. Labour was induced the next day and Kyle was born by spontaneous delivery. He suffered severe distress during the birth; cerebral palsy was later diagnosed.
