Employees at a Dublin petrol station stole cheque books from a postbag which had been left at their premises for safe keeping, a court heard yesterday. Sean Sweeney (17), of Ashington Park, Navan Road, admitted stealing a cheque book and using a cheque from another book to obtain £80 from a local shop.

Garda Andy Tuite told Dublin District Court that a number of employees at the Maxol Filling Station, Navan Road, had stolen cheque books from a bag left by the postman. Judge Catherine Murphy, on hearing the defendant had no previous convictions, remanded him on bail to December 1st to pay back £80.
