Divers searching for a 13-year-old boy in the River Lee recovered his body this morning.

Divers searching for a 13-year-old boy in the River Lee recovered his body this morning.

Gardaí named the boy as Kieran Cummins from Bride Valley Park, Fair Hill. His body was taken to Cork University Hospital where a postmortem will be carried out.

The boy was with a group of youths in Fitzgerald’s Park near Cork city centre when they decided to go for a swim. Shortly after 8.15pm two of the teenagers got into difficulties.

One of the teenagers was rescued.

Water units from Cork City Fire Brigade were at the scene within minutes, as were local gardaí.
