A teenager has been charged with the murder of a 73-year-old pensioner in Co Cavan last year.

A teenager has been charged with the murder of a 73-year-old pensioner in Co Cavan last year.

Johnny Golden died in October as a result of serious injuries sustained in an assault at his home in Doogarry near Killeshandra on September 7th last.

Mr Golden, who was not married and lived alone, was discovered at his home by neighbours who became concerned for his welfare.

At Ballyconnell District Court today, an 18-year-old man with an address in Carrigallen, Co Leitrim was charged with Mr Golden's murder.
