THE TEACHERS’ Union of Ireland is to re-ballot members on the Croke Park agreement.

The union will conduct separate ballots for members in second level and third level and will not issue a recommendation.

The result will be known in the week beginning March 21st.

The union’s general secretary, Peter MacMenamin, said yesterday: “After an extensive consultation process with members, it has been decided to ballot immediately on the Croke Park agreement proposals.”

Mr MacMenamin added that the union would not be issuing a recommendation.

“Members will have all relevant information made available to them, and the decision on acceptance or otherwise now lies with them.”
