Teachers on the Youthreach programme will stage a rally outside the Department of Education in Marlborough Street at 5 p.m. today to highlight a longstanding pay and conditions claim. They are protesting against a full time teacher's wage of just over £14,000 for a 35 hour week, which has not increased for eight years; one year contracts without increments, promotions or a pension scheme; and the fact that more than half of Youthreach staff are part time with no contracts or job security.
