A decision by the Minister for Education, Mr al Martin, to set up a special working group to examine the problem of heavy schoolbags has been praised by a Fianna Fail TD, Mr Liam Lawlor. Mr Lawlor said tackling the problem would require greater storage space in schools, smaller folios and a reduction in the number of textbooks designed for two and three years of study.
