A company of which Meath East TD Regina Doherty is a director has accumulated debts of €286,000, a creditors’ meeting was told last Friday.

Ms Doherty and her husband Declan Doherty were the main directors of Enhanced Solutions, a hardware distribution company based in Ashbourne, Co Meath, which bought surplus stock from manufacturers before selling it on.

The company ceased trading in 2009 and an accountant Ed Walsh was appointed last week to oversee the winding up of the company. The meeting of creditors heard the company had total debts of €286,000. Among the creditors are the Revenue Commissioners and AIB Bank, which are owed over €100,000 between them.

Ms Doherty said that as well as being directors of the company she and her husband were also among the largest creditors.

Ms Doherty did not include her directorship of the company in her registerable interests last year. She said yesterday that the company was struck off at the time and was not a legal entity.

However, she later registered her interest after the company had been reinstated during 2012.
