A Government deputy yesterday joined women's leaders to launch a flower appeal for Roisin McAliskey.

Ms Mary Flaherty (FG) and Green MEP Ms Patricia McKenna appealed to people across Ireland to send flowers to Ms McAliskey, who is pregnant, as a "humanitarian gesture" marking International Women's day on March 8th.

Ms McAliskey is on remand in Holloway Prison in connection with an IRA bomb attack on a British army base in Osnabruck last year.
