Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an attack on a taxi driver in Dublin city centre in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Moses Ayanwole (41), who lives in Clonsilla in Dublin was assaulted by another man at about 12.20am on Pearse Street near the junction of Erne Street.

He remains in a serious condition in hospital having sustained injuries to his face and head. Anyone with information is asked to contact gardaí at Pearse Street on 01 6669000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
