The Minister for Finance has announced tax relief on donations to disadvantaged schools in recognition of the difficulties they face in raising funds from parents and the community in deprived areas. The relief will be available on personal and corporate donations, and is expected to cost £200,000 in 1998 and £1 million in a full year. The Minister for Education expects annual donations of around £2 million to such schools.
