Divorced couples are to be protected by amendments to the income and capital tax code following the enactment of new divorce legislation, the Minister for Equality and Law Reform, Mr Taylor, said yesterday. Under the amendments, any property transfers related to a divorce will be exempted from all capital taxes, including capital gains tax, capital acquisitions tax, probate tax and stamp duty, provided that the transfers are covered by the court divorce order.
