Sixteen people died and 45 were wounded in an attack by the Taliban on Kandahar police headquarters in Afghanistan.

Sixteen people died and 45 were wounded in an attack by the Taliban on Kandahar police headquarters in Afghanistan.

The assailants were wearing explosives vests and were armed with automatic rifles and rocket-propelled grenades.

Car bombs were also detonated during the assault. The governor's spokesman, Zalmai Ayubi, said one civilian was among those killed; the rest were Afghan policemen.
