Damascus - Syria has accepted Israel's withdrawal from south Lebanon, without demanding a pull-out from the disputed Shebaa hamlets, the UN envoy, Mr Terje RoedLarsen, said in the Syrian capital yesterday.

The envoy said in a statement that Syria and the UN were "in full agreement on every matter" of the withdrawal. He told reporters that Syria did not demand that Israel pull out of the hamlets.
