A Swedish national who was befriended by a Moroccan while holidaying in Spain became a drugs courier to repay debts, a court in Cork was told yesterday. A detective told the court there was increasing use of older people as drugs couriers.

Sven Olaf Svenson, from Aagerton, Stockholm, pleaded guilty to importing £150,000 worth of cannabis resin in Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

He was jailed for five years by Judge A.G. Murphy.
