The chief executive of the North Connacht Farmers Cooperative Society, Mr Michael Farrell, said in Ballina, Co Mayo, at the weekend that it was vital with the setting up of the new board of the Western Commission that the west would get sustainable jobs so that its people would not have to leave the region.
Mr Farrell was launching the 1997 Year Book for the Mayo Association in Dublin.
